Job Description:
In your role, you will facilitate two Summer Teen Intensive Workshops at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) Woods Run and Hill District locations themed around Collaborative Comic Book Production. Using Incubator’s Pitch Package Playbook, you will play the role of publisher, guiding 2-3 teen-led production studios through the essential steps of creating a new comic book series from ideation to final pitch over the course of three days. You will introduce to them the basic steps of comic book production, and provide occasional guidance on how to use professional level cartooning tools and visual storytelling techniques. 2023 marked the pilot of this curriculum, and the results were amazing!
You will have the opportunity to mentor a cohort of young artists in Pittsburgh and encourage them to complete their projects for submission to Ink This! Teen magazine, a debut comic book anthology to be circulated at each of CLP’s 18 Teenspaces.

You will work closely with the Teen Librarian at CLP Woods Run and CLP Hill District to organize the materials into studio kits for the workshop, prepare the learning environment, and provide students with instruction based on the curriculum inside the Pitch Package Playbook.
This job has the opportunity to expand into additional well-paid teaching opportunities and/or collaborations with Incubator Productions. Advance training will be given on how to effectively use the playbook for instruction prior to the workshop.
